I especially liked the image you painted of “your new husband’s grandmother lined-up at your book-signing table, clutching her freshly purchased copy”. I was once asked to give a talk on syphilis to a men’s church group, so I brought my standard .ppt with all the graphic pics. Unbeknownst to me, they all brought their elderly wives, and I thought I was going to be toast. They all loved it, and came up afterwards to regale me with stories of their syphilitic friends/family members from 60 years ago. Sexuality is universal and timeless. I admire your courage, both in your books and for the calendar.

Great piece. Well written and inspiring. I’m going to paste that Hemmingway quote on my computer, too. I’m struggling with some memoir-like stuff now and with the issue of “what if they read this?” So this piece was very helpful to me. And an excellent example of how to make an important point with a few good words. Thanks!
